Emm & Mal's Bucket List Challenge

8/20/23 - 11/30/23

Beginning Saturday, August 26th, you're invited to participate in Emm & Mal's Bucket List Challenge! Do a few good deeds for the homeless pets in our community and you'll become an Animal Welfare Champion! Plus, you'll have the chance to win a $250 Amazon gift card! But the real winners are needy animals from all over Kern County!

There are 8 challenges to choose from! Adopt, Volunteer, Donate, Foster, Transport, Promote, and Say Thanks! Complete 4 challenges and you'll have your name displayed at Kern County Animal Services as an Animal Welfare Champion! You'll also be qualified to win the $250 gift card! The challenge runs from September 1st through November 30th. The winner will be announced in December on KGET TV 17 and posted online with Kern County Animal Services.

Here are the 8 Challenges to choose from:

CHALLENGE 1: ADOPT
If you are considering adding a pet to your family, please consider adopting from a local shelter or rescue. These pets may not be purebred, though some are, they are all pure love. (CONTEST HACK - If you adopt a pet you're automatically qualify to win!)

CHALLENGE 2: VOLUNTEER
Option A) Volunteer at the shelter. The staff always appreciates help with cleaning kennels,
walking dogs, putting away donations, and much more!
Option B) Trainers and groomers are always needed! Volunteer your services to the shelter!
Option C) Take a dog out for a day through the Streets of Bakersfield short-term foster program.
It helps the shelter dogs manage kennel stress, burn off energy and get more exposure to potential
adopters.

CHALLENGE 3: DONATE
Option A) Donate financially, which is tax deductible. Go to the website, click on How To Help.
Option B) Donate needed items, go to the same website area and it will give you the Amazon Wish List
link and a list of items needed.

CHALLENGE 4: FOSTER
A much needed program for the animals that are not able to be adopted right away. Fosters give these animals a second chance by providing temporary care and love in their homes until the animals are strong, healthier and ready to go to their forever homes.

CHALLENGE 5: TRANSPORT
Some animals go out-of-the area, and sometimes out of state, to their new homes, fosters or rescues and drivers are needed. In some cases the rescue or shelter may provide gas money.

CHALLENGE 6: PROMOTE
Your knowledge and expertise in social media would be very helpful in promoting the adoptable pets in our shelters or rescues, and the upcoming events such as low or no cost vaccination and spay/neuter clinics.

CHALLENGE 7: SAY THANKS
Say thank you to the shelter/rescue staff and volunteers for all the do for the animals in any way you feel appropriate.

CHALLENGE 8: FUNDRAISE
Hold fundraisers such as a yard sale, a party where you ask guests to bring something to donate to your local shelter or rescue. For your birthday request a donation to a shelter or rescue instead of gifts. Put up a jar on your desk or countertop at work labeled Donations for a shelter or rescue.

When you complete a challenge, post it on social media! Tag Emm & Mal's Animal Sanctuary and Kern County Animal Services on Facebook and/or Instagram! Include the hashtag #EMASBucketChallenge.

One you've completed 4 challenges, bring your bucket list to KCAS to have your name and photo displayed in the lobby with other Animal Welfare Champions!

FYI - You can enter more than once! Each time you complete 4 different challenges, you'll be entered into the drawing for the $250 gift card.

Remember - The REAL winners of this Bucket List Challenge are shelter pets and animals in need!

Thank you for your support and good luck!

From Emm and Mal's Animal Sanctuary and Kern County Animal Services!
