Streets Of Bakersfield

Streets of Bakersfield is our short-term foster program where the public can take shelter dogs on day outings. Your adventure can include a hike, a trip to the park, a coffee date or even hanging out at home. These field trips help our shelter dogs manage kennel stress, burn off energy and get more exposure to potential adopters.

On returning to the shelter, we ask that you fill out our Streets of Bakersfield Report Card, which gives us important information and insight about your shelter dog. Report cards are scanned to their permanent record and hung on their kennels. We also appreciate any photos and videos of your adventures, and love to share them to social media.

Streets of Bakersfield pick up is on Saturdays from 10 to Noon. You will need to have a current short-term foster application in the system or you can fill one out when you get there. Dogs eligible for the program have signs on their kennels- you can pick a dog or we can pick one for you! Dogs need to be returned by 3:30.

Watch our Facebook page for upcoming Streets of Bakersfield program dates. We hope to see you soon!
