Vaccinations & Microchipping

Vaccination and microchipping are both great ways to protect your pet. Vaccination protects your pets against the primary communicable diseases, and microchipping makes it much easier for you to find your lost pet.

If you adopt a pet from us, we will give them a microchip and all current vaccinations, including a rabies vaccination if pet is old enough.

Kern County Animal Services also promotes vaccinations and microchipping by offering low-cost vaccinations and microchipping to all county residents, and animal licensing services to residents who live in the unincorporated areas of Kern County or in the contracted city of Tehachapi.

We hold clinics that offer low-cost vaccinations and microchipping. These clinics are open to all county residents and are held in several communities.  A licensed veterinarian provides the services for a nominal fee; at the same time, Animal Services staff is present so participating owners can license their dog(s).

Microchipping

Microchipping is available at all of our vaccine clinics as well as in the shelter front office located at 3951 Fruitvale Ave. during normal business hours.
