Kern County Animal Services has wonderful animals looking for good homes. With hundreds of available cats and dogs every day, we’re sure to have the right pet for your family. At Kern County Animal Services, you can find all breeds, ages, types and personality types!

Our kennels are open to the public Monday - Saturday from 10am to 4pm. Wednesdays from 2pm to 7pm. Closed on Sundays.

You DO NOT need an appointment to view our adoptable pets or to adopt them.

Adoption Fees

Animal adoption fees include spay or neuter surgery cost, first set of vaccinations including a Rabies vaccination (if pet is old enough) and a microchip. For residents who live in the unincorporated areas of Kern County or in the contracted city of Tehachapi, dog adoption fees also include a one-year County license.

Reduced Fees

Kern County Animal Services consistently offers daily, weekly, or monthly Reduced Adoption Fee events and promotions which allow animals to be adopted at a greatly reduced cost. Standard Fees

Female Kitten/Cat: $50

Male Kitten/Cat: $40

Puppy < 3 months old: $75

Puppy (3 months and older) $85

Dog: $85
