Veterinary Care Assistance

The L.O.V.E. Project - Lifesaving Outreach for Veterinary Emergencies

Veterinary care assistance is available to pet owners in Kern County who find themselves in need of critical veterinary care for their pets. This assistance is available for a limited time while funding lasts and is only available thanks to an incredibly generous donation that was made by two donors to the Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation. Award amounts, if approved, may vary significantly between cases. The Department reserves the right to approve, partially approve, or deny any request for assistance. To receive assistance, you must fill out the application form below. It is important to read the application carefully and completely before applying. There are requirements that must be met in order to receive this assistance. Some of those requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Applicant must have an estimate of cost from a veterinarian.
  • If assistance is granted, processing may require 3-7 days.
  • Assistance will be paid directly to veterinarian.
  • Assistance is not available for preventative care.
  • Submission of application does not guarantee or imply approval of assistance.
  • Veterinary clinic must be willing and able to accept partial payments by phone from a 3rd party.
