Veterinary Care Assistance

Veterinary care assistance of up to $200 is available to pet owners in specific areas of unincorporated Kern County who find themselves in need of critical veterinary care for their pets. This assistance is available for a limited time while funding lasts, and is only available as a result of an incredibly generous donation that was made by a single donor to the Friends of the Kern County Animal Shelters Foundation. In order to receive assistance, you must fill out the application form below. It is important to read the application carefully and completely before applying. There are many requirements that must be met in order to receive this assistance. Some of those requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Applicant must live in the unincorporated areas of zip code 93304, 93305, 93306, 93307, or 93308.
  • Pet must have a valid Kern County dog license in the applicant's name and at the applicant's residence or P.O. Box, as is required by Kern County Ordinance.
  • Applicant must have a quote from a veterinarian.
  • If assistance is granted, processing requires 3-7 days.
  • Assistance will be paid directly to veterinarian.
  • Assistance is not available for preventative care or euthanasia.
  • Submission of application does not guarantee or imply approval of assistance.
  • Veterinary clinic must be willing and able to accept partial payments by phone from a 3rd party.
