Kern County Animal Shelter - Bakersfield

The Kern County Animal Shelter in Bakersfield is a full-service animal shelter serving residents of the metropolitan Bakersfield area and surrounding areas. The shelter is used primarily to house and care for dogs and cats, but if needed it can accommodate other animals, including larger domestic animals such as horses, goats, sheep and pigs and exotic pets such as birds, lizards, and rabbits. 

Some services (see list below) are limited to residents who live in the unincorporated areas of Kern County or in the contracted cities of Arvin and Tehachapi.

There are two other shelters located in Bakersfield that are run by other agencies.
